Frequently Asked Questions About Accessories for Barrier Moulds
The right accessories can make the production of concrete barriers easier and more efficient. Betonblock® offers, among other products, a connecting profile set for linkable barriers, a special filling aid and a casting table with adjustable legs. Below, we answer frequently asked questions about using and choosing these accessories.
How do I use a connecting profile set for barriers?
The steel connecting profiles are placed in the designated positions in the barrier mould before pouring. During pouring, the profiles become embedded in the concrete barrier. Once the concrete has cured sufficiently and the barrier has been demoulded, the embedded profiles allow individual barriers to be connected to one another. This makes it possible to combine several elements into a longer, continuous barrier. Always position the profiles correctly and according to the instructions before pouring the concrete.
What is the filling aid for barrier moulds and how does it work?
The Betonblock® JBF-Barrier filling aid has been developed to make filling a barrier mould with concrete easier and more efficient. The filling aid has sloping sides that help guide the concrete towards the opening of the barrier mould during pouring. This makes it easier to fill the narrow upper opening of the mould, reduces the labour required for pouring and can save time during production. After filling, the concrete must still be properly compacted and finished in the usual way.
How do I choose the right casting table or work surface?
A barrier mould must stand on a stable, level surface during pouring. If the floor at the production site is not sufficiently level, a casting table with adjustable legs can help. The Betonblock® casting table measures 250 × 125 × 8 cm and can be levelled using its adjustable legs. This provides a stable base for casting concrete barriers and other elements. Always choose a surface that is sufficiently load-bearing, stable and level for the mould, the concrete and the surrounding work.
