With the right accessories, you can produce concrete slabs more cleanly, efficiently and consistently. BETONBLOCK® offers, among other things, release oil with an oil pump, a concrete vibrator, a screed, a pressure washer and a spirit level. These tools support different stages of the production process, from preparing the mould to compacting and finishing the concrete and cleaning up afterwards. Below, we answer the most frequently asked questions about accessories for concrete slab moulds.
Release oil helps the hardened concrete slab separate more easily from the steel mould and helps prevent concrete residue from sticking to the mould. Before casting, apply a thin and even layer to the clean inside of the mould. A suitable oil pump allows you to distribute the release oil in a controlled manner. Do not use more oil than necessary, as an excessively thick layer can affect the appearance of the concrete surface.
A concrete vibrator is used during or immediately after casting to remove trapped air from the concrete and help the concrete distribute properly throughout the mould. BETONBLOCK® offers a lightweight concrete vibrator with 12,000 vibrations per minute for this purpose. Proper compaction contributes to a denser concrete structure, a more even surface and complete filling of the mould. Use the concrete vibrator in a controlled manner at several locations and do not leave it vibrating unnecessarily long in one position.
A screed is used to bring the freshly poured concrete to the required height and make the surface as even as possible. In doing so, you distribute or remove excess concrete along the top of the mould. A properly finished and levelled surface makes further finishing easier and helps produce concrete slabs with a consistent thickness.
Preferably remove concrete residue and dirt as soon as possible after demoulding, before the material fully adheres to the mould or hardens. A pressure washer can help remove stubborn concrete residue and contamination from the steel surface. Pay particular attention to corners, edges and moving parts when cleaning. Inspect the mould after cleaning and prepare it again before casting the next slab.
A level mould helps produce a concrete slab with an even thickness and a flat surface. If the mould is tilted, the fresh concrete may distribute unevenly and the slab may become thicker or higher on one side. Therefore, check with a spirit level before casting that the mould is positioned correctly and always use a stable and sufficiently level surface.
