By maintaining your concrete block moulds properly and replacing worn parts in good time, you can continue using them for many years. Betonblock® offers various spare parts, including pins, wedges, and components for the mould's closing and opening mechanism. Below, we answer the most frequently asked questions about inspecting, replacing, and using spare parts for concrete block moulds.
Of course, BETONBLOCK offers spare parts for the products it sells. The available options vary depending on the spare part. Some parts can be used universally with several Betonblock® moulds, while others are specifically designed for a particular type, size, or component of the mould. Therefore, always check which part you want to replace and whether the selected spare part is suitable for your mould. If you are unsure, provide the type and dimensions of your mould so that the correct part can be identified.
Replace a part when you notice clear signs of wear, deformation, damage, or reduced functionality. For example, check for pins and wedges that no longer fit properly and fasteners that are becoming more difficult to open or close. If a part is damaged, do not wait until the mould stops functioning properly. Replacing worn parts in good time helps the mould close correctly and allows you to continue producing concrete blocks with consistent dimensions.
The installation method depends on the spare part being replaced. Pins, wedges, and components of the closing mechanism each require a different installation method. Make sure the mould is empty, clean, and stable before starting maintenance. Use suitable tools for the specific part and always check after installation that the mould opens smoothly and closes completely. Do not force parts into place if they do not fit properly. First check whether you have the correct spare part for the mould. Instructions are available for spare parts for clamps. The BETONBLOCK team is also always available to provide the correct instructions and advice on disassembly and assembly.
Ideally, inspect the mould and the parts you use regularly before pouring concrete and during scheduled maintenance. With intensive daily use, it is advisable to carry out regular visual inspections of pins, wedges, fasteners, and other moving or load-bearing components. Look for wear, deformation, damage, and parts that no longer move smoothly. This helps you identify problems early and replace parts before they affect the production process.
The spare part you need depends on which component of the mould is worn or damaged. For example, the closing and fastening system may require replacement pins or wedges. Components used to open the mould can also be replaced individually. First identify where the problem is and compare the existing component with the available spare part. This helps prevent you from ordering a part that does not fit your mould.
Before removing a wedge, make sure the relevant part of the mould is not under load and that you can work safely. If necessary, first clean the wedge and the surrounding area so that concrete residue or dirt does not make removal more difficult. Then use suitable tools, such as a hammer, to loosen and remove the wedge in a controlled manner. Do not strike or force the wedge in a way that could damage the mould or its closing mechanism. After removal, also check the condition of the wedge and replace it if you notice clear signs of wear or deformation.
