New in coastal technology is the BETONBLOCK® Tetrapod, for producing innovative, cleverly designed concrete breakwater elements. With the Tetrapod mould, you can create concrete elements for coastal protection in a range of sizes, depending on the size of the mould. One of the main features of the Tetrapod is its shape, providing a better breakwater effect. Conventional breakwaters like boulders and concrete blocks move easily under the force of the waves. But BETONBLOCK®’s Tetrapod is designed such that the force of the incoming water decreases; the broken waves flow around the Tetrapod instead of against it, thus losing their impact.
The Tetrapod concrete elements not only work better and more effectively, they are also more reliable. That is because ‘random’ placement of several interlocking Tetrapod elements minimises displacement. Having each individual concrete breakwater element numbered also makes it easy to check for any movement.

The wide range of Tetrapod moulds, from small (1.5 tons) to very large (25 tons), makes it possible to create a suitable water barrier.
